Visiting the art exhibition, greening the tourist routes, training in guiding tourists, informing about tourist attractions and finally a well-deserved pizza with drinks – that was how we ended a day in which volunteers were delighted with the experience, filled with the regret that the day was over, but with a firm desire to return!

We are waiting for you with open arms for a new adventure for learning and knowing the natural, cultural and historical heritage of the Danube Gorge in Caras Severin!

The action was organized by the Association Danube Moldova Noua together with the Cit Hall of Moldova Noua, with the support of the Technological High School ”Danube Gorge” in Moldova Noua (LTCDMN), DISCOVER WILD DANUBE and the volunteers – Denis Olteanu with his wife and Ion Anoca!

The whole team was up to the task and the atmosphere was extraordinary and it foreshadows the joy of participating in events of this kind organized by Association Danube Moldova Noua (ADMN)!

Only by giving us your trust again, can we contribute together to the rebirth from the ashes of the local tourism in Banatul Montan!

Within the  Danube Moldov Noua Association, we have formed a group of professionals with whom we hope to diversify the forms of tourism in the direction of the revalorization of the ancient traditions of the ethnic groups from the Danube Gorge! We are aware of the difficulties of our strategy, but with the desire, the will and the passion that characterizes us we hope to succeed!

ADMN

The Association ADMN made a tour with tourists from Timisoara and two mega-tours with tourists from all over the country in the Caras Gorge. This fall, we hope to succeed, as long as the weather will be kind to us, to organise at least 4 more mega-tours!

Tourists were impressed by the ”Valea Mare” waterfalls, the water mills from Garnic and Sichevita, the island of wild horses, the fortress under reconstruction St. Ladislaus, the Danube at Bazias, the ”Gaura cu Musca” and ”Grota Haiducilor” caves, the Roman castrum Vila Rustica, but also y the local gastronomy, specific for the Danube area (fish dishes), Czech, Serbian and Banat!

Walked well on wild tourist routes and ate well from household products of such diversity of dishes!

Crossing the mountains – the border between east and west, between Orthodoxy and Catholicism, between poverty and wealth – THE TOURIST will discover not only a rich and elegant land, cosmopolitan and with splendid traditions, but also an opulent cuisine, similar to the one in Transylvania, with some peculiarities: sweetened sauces and soups, pilaf piled with greens and paprika. And the wines in Banat are also abundant and special, and some even unique along the Danube. The red and white wine are the most common in Moldova Noua, originated from Radimna and Liubcova vineyards.

The Banat resident is not pretentious, he just wants to have a rich meal, to have a lot put together, not to miss anything, and the taste to be as natural as possible. Here, in the area, various nations and peoples have survived, and everything is borrowed. The German, Hungarian and Serbian influences are so strong, as it is not only that they influenced the Romanian cuisine from Banat, but also the cuisine from Banat had an influence on them, too.

Among the culinary recipes in the area of ​​Moldova Noua – the Danube Gorge we have soup (zupa) with noodles, cream, dumplings with plums, langos (fried dough) and papanasi (cheese doughnuts), fish dishes, winter holidays or Easter dishes.

Serbian cuisine is not absent from Banat’s gastronomy, as it is represented by fish dishes (eg Golden Cauldron, where the famous fish soup is prepared).

The Prince Sun was a handsome and strong young man, and his beauty charmed the young lady-stars, but especially the Moon. Since the proudest and most voluptuous was the latter, they all believed that she was destined to be the bride of the beautiful Sun.

All day long, the stars read the legends of the Universe, played the harp, sewed the galaxies, played hide-and-seek, only the Moon was always with the Prince. But, unfortunately, his attention was often drawn by an emerald eyes gentle star, who had a unique talent to please his ear with the most magical harp song.

On one of the bright days, there was a party, in honor of the crayon. This was the best time for him to choose his future wife. Thus he invited all the stars in the Universe, but he could not miss lady Moon that yearned with all the heart after the love of the Prince. She chose the most beautiful dress, sewn with silver thread. Her carriage, drawn by two white horses, covered in pearls, was all polished with silver! It was by far the most elegant presence at the party.

But the eyes of the Prince remained focused on the simple charm of the lady-star Danube, his star that made his days happy with the song of her harp.

All the guests were eagerly waiting for the first waltz to start, because the first one with whom the Prince chose to dance would become his bride. When the gong announced the start of the waltz, all the breath was suspended. The moon had already had a translucent smile into the corner of her lips when she saw the Sun approaching her. But the disappointment was great when he saw that the Prince’s hand was heading for the Danube, inviting her to the magic waltz.

The Danube felt her heart leaping with joy, but she joined the Sun, and swore him eternal love.

Miss Moon immediately ran toward her beautiful carrier, but she began to feel how her glow fades and how a cold wave transforms her into a cruel being.

The two fiances as the Moon to be their godmother and the Evening Star to be their godfather. The Moon accepted immediately, and then began to devise a plan for revenge. She called for help from the evil spirits, who advised her to lure the innocent Danube into a trap. Said and done. On the eve of the wedding, the Moon asked the Sun to entrust his future wife, to prepare her for the wedding, with the most beautiful clothes.

Only that, the poor Danube, was carried to the edge of the heaven, from where the moon ruthlessly flung it on the ground, in mountains covered by a frightening black forest. And the Danube crashed so hard into the ground that it turned into a water spring.

Shortly afterwards, good fairies passed through the ground, who saw the water spring, in which they wanted to look to mirror their faces. But as soon as the Danube started talking, she told them everything that had happened to her and asked them to help her see her fiance at least once. The fairies immediately cast a spell, and the spring of water began to flow.

The Moon, which was watching everything that happened, was scared and ordered the trees to bend, so that the Sun, who was desperately looking for the Danube, would not see her. But the good fairies commanded the springs to run toward the Danube, in order for it to gain strength to flow. The moon began to cast huge stones toward the Danube to stop it, but the stones remained in place and turned into mountains. Other springs came to the aid of the Danube, so she took an unimaginable momentum and threw herself into the sea. From there she cried to the Prince, she yelled her love and cursed the Moon.

Realizing that the Moon is to blame for all this tragedy, the Sun turned his face from her and began to run far, far, where it could no longer be reached by the Moon. With the departure of the Light Prince, the darkness was born, which is the Lady Moon. And since then, even today, the Moon has not been able to catch the Sun, but the Sun is reflected daily in the Danube, and it shines in every drop of it.

In 2008, the works were suspended due to lack of funds. For six years no progress was made on erecting the church, but the idea of building the church was not abandoned.

In 2013, following a pilgrimage to Mount Athos, two monks, sons of the city of Moldova Noua, had the idea of bringing an icon of the Virgin Mary and boosting the construction work of the Church!

The architecture of the church is in Byzantine style with a three-tiled plan. The dimensions of the church are 40 m x 18 m.
The consecration of the church was done on August 15, 2019!

2. Roman Catholic Church of Moldova Noua, historical monument in neoclassical style, was erected in stone in the eighteenth century (1777-1778) on the site of the old wooden church existing here since 1756. The church, with the dedication of Saint John the Baptist, has suffered over time a series of damage and redevelopment due to the troubled history of the place. In 1788, during the war with the Turks, the place of worship was plundered and destroyed. In 1791, it was restored and provided with a tower.

During the revolution of 1848, the church is again destroyed, this time by the Serbian population, and rebuilt a few years later (1852-1853). This time the parish house and even the marriage, baptism and funeral records from the eighteenth century were destroyed. At the end of 1854, the Austrian state sold its mines and properties to the Austrian Privileged State Society (StEG), which also becomes the benefactor of the Roman Catholic church. In 1860, StEG gave the church 3 iron bells and a clock for the tower. During the First World War (in 1914), the bells were requisitioned, as was the case with all the churches, and melted for ammunition.

Even before World War II the church was renovated both inside and outside with the help of collections. During the war, the church suffered damage not only due to the war, but also to a powerful earthquake (in 1940). The last renovations were made in 2008 (exterior) and 2012 (interior).

3. Serbian Church in Moldova Veche

According to the written sources (XVIII century), there was an older Serbian Orthodox Church dedicated to the Birth of St. John the Baptist, but with some modest dimensions, made of wood.

The present church, also dedicated to the Birth of St. John the Baptist, was built between 1853-1855 and is the most imposing place of worship, from a dimensional point of view, in the entire area (Danube Clisura), having a high tower that has five bells and a clock mechanism.

Initially the temple of the church was built. It was painted by the painter Frantz Vainhepl in the early 20th century, but has not been preserved in time. The old temple of the church was replaced by a new wooden one, the work of the sculptor Ladislav Veres. In the new one, however, they found place, however, for the old royal and diaconate doors. Around 40 old books (XVIII-XIX century) with a practical-religious character are kept in the building.
