Under the Honorary Patronage of the Chairmanship of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC)

Black Sea Basin - Danube Region:
New Financing for Social & Economic Sustainable Change

Argument:

In favor of a new approach and change of mentalities in the Black Sea Basin and its related most important affluent, the Danube River, a large diversity of international/regional cross-border organisations, networks, initiatives and new financial opportunities has arisen.

However, in carrying our joint current projects and new initiatives in these regions, the main obstacles are represented by:

  • the complicated institutional structural framework;
  • the difficult access to relevant and prompt information;
  • the still low level of understanding and interest from business, administrations and NGOs in creating and properly using a shared information, learning and knowledge space.

How to trespass ASAP such obstacles?

Following the exceptional recommendations/orientations of the European Commission, as well as existing strategic documents/action plans, is highly needed not to invent or reinvent new labels, mechanisms or empty institutions, but to exert a clearly focused European/transnational lobby with and between most relevant stakeholders, activating joint working/steering committees aimed to coordinate quite innovative programmes.

In this respect, all present or possible IFIs (International Financial Institutions), innovative tools, NGO platforms, resource centres, facilities, stakeholders' networks, transparency and anti -corruption bodies are to be considered.

So, let us to start to innovate together, uniting Danube Region with Black Sea Basin and other interest related geo-political and economic areas of the Mediterranean, Caspic and North Sea.
